This report provides an overview and analysis of the background, context and development of the Growing Forest Partnerships initiative in Guatemala.

GFP Guatemala

A GFP country since 2009, Guatemala's efforts have focused on building forest community partnerships, strengthening the capacity of forest communities and improving finance instruments to benefit smallholder and forest communities, all through the development of strong partnerships. At the start of the GFP programme in Guatemala, four thematic areas were identified as core areas to which GFP activities should respond in order to generate positive economic, social and environmental impacts in the country. These areas have served to guide the evolution of GFP in Guatemala and include governance, financing instruments, institutional strengthening and capacity development.
