Regional workshop to review and update forest policy in Guatemala - Quetzaltenango, April 2011

A regional workshop to share the findings of a recent evaluation of forest policy in Guatemala was held in Quetzaltenango on 29 April. It was one of a series of workshops being held to gather proposals from a variety of different forestry organisations across the country for updating the forest policy which was established 10 years ago. The workshop was attended by local forestry officials, representatives from the Ministry of Environment, from the network of Indigenous Authorities, and from the forest organisation Helvetas, as well as members of the National Alliance of Community Forestry Organisations.
